7500 and
7501 devices, both of which also used a form factor that practically took them into UMPC territory. Measuring 4.5 x 3.9 x 0.6, the device has a keyboard like that of a small laptop.
In addition to facelifted styling, the X7510 includes a variety of improvements, according to HTC. It now has an improved keyboard with better feedback, a G-sensor that automatically adjusts the screen orientation of the device, and an impressive 16GB of flash storage, HTC says.
The software now includes HTC's
TouchFLO interface, which is said to provide for finger touchscrolling and browsing of Web pages, documents, messages, and contact lists. A new HTC Home today screen provides easy access to emails, text messages, missed calls, calendar appointments, and contacts. The Opera web browser will also be included, though HTC did not say if this is the recently introduced
Opera Mobile 9.5 version, which features increased speed and mobile widgets technology.
Most notable is the claimed "future version of Windows Mobile." This is likely to be
Windows Mobile 6.1 (which might also be called Windows Mobile 6 Second Edition), which has been shown behind closed doors by Microsoft and scheduled for release "during the second quarter of 2008." Rumored features of Windows Mobile 6.1 include:
Software aside, other features of the Advantage X7510 include a 624 MHz Marvell PXA270-series processor and 128MB of RAM. Its 5-inch touchscreen display is driven by an ATI Imageon W2284 graphics controller that also supports TV out. An optional "4-in-1" cable connects to a proprietary 18-pin interface on the phone and provides the following ports:
- USB 1.1 host
- VGA output
- S-Video output
- Composite video output
The Advantage 7510 works on tri-band 3G/HSDPA and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE cellular networks. It additionally includes both WiFi and stereo Bluetooth.
Audio capabilities include dual speakers and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The unit also has a three-megapixel camera, with auto focus and a flash LED. Finally, the Advantage also incorporates GPS via the Qualcomm MSM6275 chipset, supported by the included TomTom Navigator 6 software.
