The HTC Universal, running Windows Mobile 5.0, is available at Microsoft's Professional Developers Conference (currently underway in Los Angeles) for the "mind boggling price" of $149, according to a post on the Windows Mobile Team blog.

For an extra $10, you can add a Bluetooth headset.

When HTC announced the Universal in May, it was claimed to be the "world's first" 3G mobile phone based on Windows Mobile 5.0. The clamshell-style device sports a full QWERTY keyboard and a 3.6-inch VGA (640 x 480) display that swivels around 180 degrees to create a tablet-style PDA, complete with touchscreen.

"Can't wait to see what all the cutting edge ISVs at PDC come up with after getting their hands on this device," says blog poster Robert.
