(Click for larger image of HTC's Cavalier (Dopod C730)Underlining the evolutionary nature of HTC's Windows Mobile-based devices, the Cavalier is a replacement for the company's previous Excalibur (sold as the
HTC S620, Dopod C720, and
T-Mobile Dash). Compared to those models, however, it is claimed to have twice the processing speed. Also, whereas the earlier models featured only GSM Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), the Cavalier also offers WCDMA Tri-band 850/1900/2100 MHz.
The update to
Windows Mobile 6 is said to bring "direct push" email, plus the ability to view and edit Word and Excel documents. HTC also touts the availability of
Blackberry Connect.
The device's camera has been modestly uprated, going from 1.2 to 2 megapixels. A touch-sensitive strip on the right side of the phone reportedly can control volume and provide for a variety of navigation functions.
