HTC has selected the video telephony and conferencing protocol software of Dilithium Networks for its new Windows Mobile Pocket PC Phone platform. AnswerFast Plus "dramatically reduces video call session setup times to less than 1 second, comparable to those of voice calls," according to Dilithium, while "present 3G terminals typically take 5-8 seconds to completely establish the audio and video channels." The technology also boasts high resiliency in noisy or poor coverage areas, the company says, and "an unmatched interoperability record with deployed terminals."

HTC designs are reportedly at the basis of smartphones and Pocket PCs marketed by Audiovox, i-mate, Orange, O2, Siemens, and others. Among the mobile operators currently offering HTC-design smartphones are Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
