        Half-VGA rugged handheld runs CE .NET 4.2

        LXE Inc. has unveiled its latest rugged wireless handheld computer, a horizontal half-screen device based on a 400MHz Intel PXA255 XScale processor running Microsoft's Windows CE .NET 4.2 embedded OS.         The MX3X is equipped with 64MB or 128MB SDRAM and 64MB Flash memory, and has a 6-inch diagonal "half-VGA" (640x240 pixel), CCFL backlit LCD touch-screen display, along with a 63-key QWERTY keyboard with phosphorescent "glowing" keys that are epoxy-coated for resistance to abrasions and chemicals.



        Interfaces include two RS232 ports, USB host and device ports, an infrared interface, and an integrated barcode scanner. For expansion options, two expansion slots are provided -- PCMCIA V2.1 Types I-III, and CompactFLash Type I or II. The MX3X's dimensions are 8 x 6 x 1.35 inches, and it weighs 34.5 oz (color model). A 2.4GHz 802.11b wireless networking option is supported, via a card plugged into the device's PCMCIA slot.
