Maxspeed announced a new, "highly secure" thin client terminal, the Secure MaxTerm, which is powered by Microsoft's Windows XP Embedded operating system. Maxspeed said it made use of Cryptek's DiamondAgent IPsec software client to provide enhanced security features such as additional firewall level access control, centrally stored...
client policies, and network address translation (NAT) traversal standards.
According to Maxspeed, DiamondAgent is part of an overall DiamondTEK hardware/software solution which recently received the Common Criteria EAL4 rating satisfying the federal requirements of NSTISSP #11 for information assurance systems. Additionally, DiamondAgent is currently in process to receive FIPS 140 certification, which will make it one of the few IPSec software clients with this certification. These products were evaluated by the National Security Agency at the B2 level of functionality and trust, the highest achieved by any network communications component, the company said.
"Network security issues are in the forefront of our customers minds," noted Maxspeed CEO Wei Ching. "We listen to those concerns and requirements and have expanded our product line to satisfy their needs. Combining the MaxTerm thin client terminal with the DiamondAgent software and the entire DiamondTEK product line, allows us to provide our customers with the utmost secure, government tested thin client solution available."
"Cryptek specializes in providing government certified network security systems that enable safe information sharing among users with disparate access permissions," commented David E. Gross, Cryptek CEO. "This is a much desired capability in many government environments and is unique in the industry. By partnering with Maxspeed, we make this capability available in the thin client architectures in which security and cost have high priority."
