Honeywell announced an entry-level handheld computer initially aimed at the APAC (Asia Pacific) region. The ruggedized O5100 runs Windows CE 5.0 on a 624MHz Marvell PXA300 processor, has 64MB of RAM and 128MB of flash storage, does 1D and 2D barcode scanning, and includes 802.11b/g wireless networking as well as Bluetooth 2.0.

Like most other handhelds of its type, the O5100 has a 320 x 240 pixel display (here, measuring 2.4 inches diagonally) with resistive touch capabilities. Meeting the IP54 standard for resistance to liquids and dust, the device survives four-foot drops and operates in temperatures ranging from -4 to 158 deg. F, says Honeywell.

According to Honeywell, the O5100 has a numeric keypad (with shifted alphanumeric mode), four function keys, a prominent scanning key, and a four-way controller. It includes 64MB of RAM, 128MB of flash storage, and a microSD slot that accepts up to 32MB of RAM, the company adds.

Equipped with 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 wireless capabilities, the O5100 is offered with a standard 2200mAh battery or an optional 3300mAh unit. We were unable to translate the Chinese-language, PDF-formatted data sheet to see what duration is claimed, however.
