EIC, originally released in 1997, was re-launched in July as a "100 percent Microsoft-based" IP PBX using the open SIP standard and Intel's HMP software, in order to help Microsoft-centric SMBs reduce the cost and complexity associated with deploying VoIP communications systems, Vonexus says.
Key EIC features listed by Vonexus include SIP-based switching, built-in auto-attendant, and call routing and queuing capabilities. It also offers pre-integration with Windows Server, SQL, and LCS, and provides a Windows and Outlook-based softphone, as well as Exchange-based unified messaging. Additionally, Windows CE and SharePoint interfaces extend EIC's reach to encompass mobile devices such as Pocket PCs.
A 10-user EIC "starter system" is currently being offered by Vonexus on a promotional basis through December.
