The above images show that this system unit attaches via a "golden finger" connector to a second module. The latter includes the panel PC's I/O ports, power supply, and an internal connection to the display itself.

Ibase says customers can use the IPPC-1500's PC component on its own without attaching an integrated PC. Or, the company adds, they'll be able to attach differently sized LCD modules that might be offered in the future.

About the present display, Ibase says it measures 15 inches diagonally, incorporates resistive touch; and has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The system's front bezel meets IP65 standards for sealing against liquids and dust, five membrane function keys are provided, and there's an automatic brightness adjustment feature, the company adds.

As for the PC module, this is said to employ Intel's Atom D2700 (2.13GHz clock speed; dual cores and four threads; 10-Watt TDP), no doubt accompanied by the NM10 I/O controller. Capable of accepting up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, the PC also includes a 2.5-inch drive bay and 2MB of battery-backed static RAM -- useful for instant system restore or security code storage, says Ibase.

The I/O module, meanwhile, offers a PCI expansion slot (half-length at best, we'd guess), according to Ibase. It also includes two Ethernet ports, four USB 2.0 ports, a VGA output, audio I/O, and an RS232/422/485 serial port, the company adds.

Ibase says the IPPC-1500 runs on 12VDC power but is optionally available with the ability to range from 9 to 36VDC. With an operating range from 14 to 140 deg. F, the panel PC is said to be suitable for POS, advertising, kiosk, and factory automation applications.
