"Identity management" software secures mobile apps at device level

Phoenix Technologies is showing off its arsenal of security management tools at this week's Mobile and Embedded Developers Conference. The company says the tools provide identity management at the device level, improving end user security and allowing developers to protect against unauthorized use of applications once they're deployed.

Phoenix says its Phoenix Security SDK (software development kit) lets developers build applications that work with the device security features built into its TrustedCore firmware for embedded devices. For example, it can be used to implement device authentication, Phoenix says.

FirstWare Recover Pro, another tool in the Phoenix line, allows device firmware to be restored to a previously saved state, even if the operating system won't boot due to a virus infection or other fault. It supports incremental image save and restore functions, Phoenix says.

Phoenix updated its TrustCore device firmware line last month, claiming compatibility with all industry initiatives and Trusted Computing Group standards.
