E-con Systems has developed an image sensor daughter card that interfaces with the PXA270 processor's digital image "quick capture interface" (aka CIF). The board is available with drivers and a sample viewer application for Windows CE 5.0 and 6.0, according to the company.

The image sensor board is based on an OmniVision OV9653 1.3 Mpixel CMOS sensor with a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024. E-con says the board connects to, and has been tested with, its PXA270-based Sirius Reference Platform introduced just about a year ago.

The sample viewfinder application is provided in source code form, and supports video and still-image capture to the full 1280 x 1024 resolution, according to E-con. The image sensor board is available for an unspecified one-time license fee, and comes with schematics, driver DLL, driver API, and the view finder application. E-con says it can customize the board to higher resolution sensors if required.
