Road Angel describes the Navigator 6000 as "two products in one." As a satellite navigation tool, it comes with 2D and 3D street-level mapping of the U.K. that supports door-to-door navigation, according to the company. The device provides voice prompts and automatically recalcuates the route if a turn is missed. It also incorporates an MP3 player and a photo viewer.

As a safety alert device, meanwhile, the Navigator 6000 alerts the driver to situations requiring extra attention, such as traffic cameras, school zones, and locations with a high accident history, known as "accident blackspots."

The device's database is updated through a subscription service priced at GBP 4 (about $7.50). The first six months are included in the Navigator 6000's purchase price of GBP 250 (around $464).

As part of the Road Angel development project, Intrinsyc says it provided a range of embedded design services, including hardware and software development and project management activities that reduced the product line's development time and ensured a more "cost-effective and flexible delivery path."

Road Angel CEO Steve Salmon stated, "Intrinsyc's Windows CE embedded design and development expertise was key in reducing our project timescale for the Navigator 6000/7000 and as a result we are looking forward to working with them to enable more flexibility in building the next generation of Road Angel Navigator devices."
