Advantech has introduced a compact, rugged, touch-panel computer with a 5.7-inch QVGA LCD screen. The TPC-60S, which is based on a Samsung ARM9 system-on-chip (SoC) processor running Windows CE, targets system control interfaces in the machine automation, transportation, and food service industries.

The fanless TPC-60S has an "ultra slim" form factor but is also durable enough to meet the requirements for operating interfaces in industrial environments, according to Advantech. The unit's front panel is NEMA4/IP65 compliant, and its plastic housing features low weight, high performance, and good heat dissipation.

Key features and specifications of the TPC-60S include:

          • 10/100 Base-T Ethernet
          • 2 USB 1.1 ports -- one client, one host
        • Wireless interface via PCMCIA slot
