These are the partner announcements as of this moment:
- Atheros Communications... says its WLAN software stack has been selected by Microsoft to provide 802.11 connectivity for CE 6.0. The stack supports Atheros's "Radio on Chip" (ROC) modules, which provide single-chip 802.11a/b/g connectivity to handheld and mobile devices. Following "rigorous" testing by Microsoft, both the software and chips have received WiFi Alliance certification, Atheros says.
- Bsquare... is offering a feasibility study service to help OEMs understand the costs and benefits of migrating to the new OS. The study is customized to the customer's needs and can include a study of code compatibility and a model of the performance, security, and code footprint impacts of migrating. The company says it has also introduced several new training programs for developers of all skill levels to learn the new capabilities in Windows CE 6.0. Existing Bsquare products that support, or will soon suppport, CE 6.0 include, the DevKit "Monahans" reference design, the SchemaBSP SDK for creating board support packages, and the SDIO Hx software stack for Windows CE.
- Centrality Communications... will use CE 6.0 for its next generation of GPS navigation and infotainment reference designs based on its Atlas and Titan processor families. Centrality praises the newly redesigned kernel's enhanced multimedia, 3D imaging, and digital content functions, which it says are suitable for the next generation of navigation infotainment devices.
- Enfora... has released an optimized set of Radio Interface Layer (RIL) drivers that support CE 6.0 for its family of GSM/GPRS/EDGE modems. Enfora's modems are based on TI's radio baseband chipset technologies, and integrate higher-level functions such as TCP/IP, UDP (PAD), CMUX, a full suite of AT commands, AMR, and SIM toolkit, according to the company.
- General Software... says its BIOS SDK for embedded x86 designs now supports CE 6.0. Embedded BIOS 2000 includes over 850 OEM-customizable configuration parameters and addresses the entire lifecycle of products, from board bring-up, configuration prototyping, testing with system diagnostics, and product manufacturing to in-field diagnostics and software reload, according to the company.
- Via Technologies... offers "full platform support" for Windows Embedded CE 6.0 on its x86 silicon and embedded motherboards. Board Support Packages (BSP) will be released this month, according to the company.
- Wyse Technology... says it is currently demonstrating CE 6.0 running on the its latest thin computers to select partners and customers. According to Wyse, CE 6.0 allows thin computers to run the latest Windows CE-based applications while also making it easier to integrate and manage peripherals such as wireless adapters, smart card readers and security software.
