Intel and Microsoft are reportedly teaming up for a year-end marketing blitz to educate consumers about new digital entertainment-oriented PCs and other associated gadgets. Using the theme "Digital Joy," the companies plan to make the case that the new multimedia PCs belong in the living room, and are the best way to play and record TV, music, and videos both in the home and on the go.

Microsoft is expected to promote devices running Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005, rolled out with great fanfare last month in Hollywood. Media Center PCs, such as the HP z545 Digital Entertainment Center (pictured on the left), will be demonstrated at "Experience Zone" kiosks planned for 38 malls across the country starting this Sunday.

The kiosks are also expected to feature related devices such as wireless Media Center Extenders (pictured on the left) and Portable Media Centers (pictured on the right).

Microsoft and Intel are reportedly spending "several tens of millions" on the campaign, which will include print media, television and movie theater advertising as well as a new web site, digitaljoy.com, expected to go live this Sunday.
