Mobile software developer Intellisync Corp. has launched its own wireless email service for Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Symbian OS, and SyncML based mobile devices. The subscription service, Wireless Email Express, provides Blackberry-like "push" email with "enterprise class" features and security, and it boasts extreme ease of set-up, administration, and use, according to the company.

Maximum lag time for a wireless message to become available is 30 minutes, Intellisync claims.

Intellisync software "is simply downloaded and installed," a company spokesman explains. "A web-based user and administrative interface enables either user self-servicing, or a group can be administered by any non-IT person able to use a browser." Based on third party evaluations and its own testing, the company claims that "it takes about one-tenth the time to install our product versus the competitive offers -- 30 minutes versus 5 hours."

As a "push" service, Intellisync Wireless Email Express keeps users' in-boxes, calendars, contacts, to do lists, etc. up to date while they are away from the office. The service supports meeting requests, attachment viewing, end-to-end encryption, password protection, theft/loss protection, and other security features. It also provides a personal travel information service, which automatically copies travel itineraries from an in box to a calendar, and it provides weather forecasts, driving directions and other services.

On launch, Intellisync Wireless Email Express is available through several reseller channels, including Ingram Micro, Global Wireless Data, and Trio Tek.
