A choice of numeric and QWERTY keyboards is offered on the CN70, while the slightly larger CN70e makes room for "large numeric" or "QWERTY-numeric" keyboards, and both pack 4000mAh batteries. The elongated CK70 and CK71, meanwhile, have 5200mAh batteries: The former comes with a choice of alpha-with-numeric or alphanumeric keyboards, while the latter offers "numeric with function keys" or alphanumeric layouts.

The CN70, CN70e, CK70, and CK71 all made their debut with a 600MHz TI OMAP3530 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 1GB of flash storage. Now, according to Intermec, they're being upgraded to a 1GHz TI Sitara AM3715, a 45nm chip that offers better graphics performance and lower power consumption.
Intermec adds that the CN70, CN70e, and CK70 are also now available with a "Flexible Network" radio module that's based on Qualcomm's Gobi 3000 chipset. This enables operation worldwide on both CDMA and UMTS wireless networks, the company says.
The devices still run Microsoft's Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 operating system. A microSD slot accepts memory cards up to 32GB in capacity, and there are also USB 2.0 host and client ports, says the company.
All four models are able to survive six-foot drops or 2000 one-meter tumbles, according to Intermec. Sealed against water and dust to the IP67 standard, they have 3.5-inch touchscreen displays with VGA resolution, an accelerometer for screen rotation, LED backlighting, and an ambient light sensor, the company adds.
Intermec says all four are available with its EA30 imager, which can scan 1D and 2D barcodes as small as 5 mil, or standard UPCs from as far away as 13 inches. The CK71 is also available with the EV12 and EV25 imagers, which respectively provide 1D imaging and "laser-like" aiming, or 1D/2D imaging over distances ranging from six inches to 50 feet, the company adds.
All models include 802.11a/b/g/n wireless networking and Bluetooth 2.1. Also said to be included are five megapixel cameras, GPS receivers, digital compasses, and speaker/microphone support for push-to-talk VoIP applications.
