Dolphin 9500 is a durable, ergonomic, multi-function handheld data terminal with a built-in digital camera and multiple wireless interfaces (WiFi, tri-band GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth). The device can be used to read bar codes, capture signatures, take photos, and communicate with vendors and dispatchers.
In addition to developing the hardware platform for the successor to the Dolphin 9500, Intrinsyc says it will also help Hand Held create a new device targeting the retail market. Both platforms will be based on one of the latest next generation Intel PXA processors and will include a Windows Mobile board support package (BSP).
The company says it was selected for these projects based on its expertise in developing platforms using Intel's 32-bit PXA processors in conjunction with Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system. The current project is in addition ongoing development work that Intrinsyc has been doing for Hand Held over the last two years.
"Hand Held Products is very satisfied with Intrinsyc's ongoing work with us, and we believe the company is unrivalled in their Windows Mobile-based knowledge and consultancy," said Kevin J. Ahearn, VP/GM Mobile and Wireless at Hand Held. "We look forward to capitalizing on their expertise further when creating new products within our Dolphin series."
