Lenovo's
Smartphone ET960, running Windows Mobile 2003 SE on a 312 MHz Intel PXA272 processor, garnered a bronze award in the Computer Equipment category. The IDSA judges praised Lenovo for "attention to user ergonomics, integration of multiple technologies and features, and use of strong product design to help establish global identity." Lenovo was one of only 148 winners in a field of 1,380 entries, it says.
"Design is fast becoming a must-have competency for corporations," according to the July 4, 2005, edition of
Business Week. "It has evolved from a simple way of giving form and color to products into a powerful tool for . . . executives. Design methods get managers close to their customers, design research helps top execs visualize the future, and design strategies help companies innovate."
