        Low-power PC/104 module runs Windows CE, XPe

        Lippert is shipping a passively cooled PC/104 module that runs Windows XP (and XPe) and draws about 6.5 Watts. The Cool LightRunner 2 runs an AMD Geode GX 466@0.9W processor, and features four USB 2.0 ports, dual Ethernet ports, on-board sound, and 256MB of soldered-down RAM.

        Lippert lists the following specifications for the Cool LightRunner 2:
        • Processor -- 333MHz AMD Geode GX 466@0.9W
        • Chipset -- CS5536 companion chipset with UMA (shared memory) graphics
        • Memory -- 256MB of soldered-down DDR SDRAM
        • Display interface -- drives VGA or TFT displays, using either a bit-parallel or LVDS interface
        • Networking -- 2 x 10/100 Ethernet
        • Other I/O
          • 4 x USB 2.0 ports, one configurable has device port
          • 3 x RS232/422/485 ports
          • 1 x parallel printer port
          • AC '97 audio, line-in, line-out, mic in
          • Floppy and ATA-66 IDE ports
          • 8 x GPIO
          • PS/2 keyboard/mouse ports
        • Expansion
          • MiniPCI slot
          • CompactFlash slot
          • PC/104 stacking connectors
        • RTC
        • 5V power
        • Standard or extended temp range of -40 to +85 degrees C
        The module runs Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE, Linux, and VxWorks, according to Lippert.

        Availability

        The Cool LiteRunner 2 is available now, in quantity, Lippert says. Pricing was not disclosed.
