        Low-power PCI-104 SBC supports Windows Embedded

        Acrosser is shipping a new PCI-104 SBC (single-board computer) based on a low-power AMD Geode LX800 processor. The AR-B1622 is supported with drivers for Windows CE and Windows XP Embedded, and targets space-constrained, fanless designs such as portable medical equipment, according to the company.

        Acrosser lists the following key features and specifications for the AR-B1622:
        • Processor -- ultra-low power (3.8 W) Geode LX800@0.9W at 500 MHz
        • Chipset -- CS5535
        • Memory -- one 200-pin SODIMM supports up to 512 MB of 200 MHz SDRAM
        • Display:
          • integrated AGP 4X 2D/3D engine
          • up to 64 MB video memory shared with main memory
          • analog CRT -- up to 1920 x 1440 x 32 bits at 85 Hz
          • 24-bit TTL interface for TFT LCD panel
          • LCD inverter power connector and ON/OFF control
          • supports 3.3 V and 5 V LCDs
          • touchscreen interface shared with COM ports
        • Storage -- 44-pin IDE supports ATA 66
        • I/O ports:
          • 10/100 Ethernet
          • 2 USB 2.0
          • 2 serial RS232
          • PS/2 keyboard and mouse
          • AC97 1.1 audio
          • 8 independent TTL GPIO lines
        • Expansion -- 32-bit PCI bus on stackable connector
        Acrosser says it provides free Windows CE and Windows XP Embedded customization services for all of its CPU boards.

        The AB-B1622 appears to be available now. Pricing was not disclosed.
