So, you've written a Windows XP Embedded device driver for your company's latest and greatest gizmo. How good is it? How do you find out? There is a tool called "Verifier" that analyzes and assesses device driver binaries running in a live Windows XP system.

In this technical whitepaper, part 1 of a 2-part series, Nick Nehrhood of Microsoft's Windows XP Embedded team shows how to configure and run the Verifier tool. Interestingly, the first issue is getting Verifier, since it's not a standard component of Windows XP Embedded.

In Part 2, "coming soon," Nehrwood will explain what to do when Verifer reports a problem.
