Maxspeed adds modes to CE .NET 4.2 thin client terminal

Maxspeed announced that its Windows CE .NE 4.2 based MaxTerm 5300 thin client terminal now implements three built-in user selectable display modes: "Desk-Top", "WBT", and "Kiosk". The modes target corporate and healthcare customers, and public access environments such as libraries, the company said.

According to Maxspeed, the modes function as follows: the Desk-Top option provides a graphically oriented mode with multimedia features including a set of application icons and associated functions; WBT mode implements a non-graphical interface to a connection manager with options for ICA, RDP, IE, or terminal emulation protocols for accessing server environments, and also provides the ability to view multiple IE browser windows (a capability which Maxspeed claims is unique); and the Kiosk mode offers a single IE 5.5 Browser icon providing access to the Internet, for use at public access points. All three modes provide secure, locked-down data security, the company said.

Maxspeed said its MaxTerm 5300 CE.Net terminal is based on an 800 MHz processor running Windows CE .NET 4.2, and includes IE 5.5, multimedia support including Media Player, MS Office file viewers, and terminal emulation capabilities.
