        MiTAC launches first Pocket PC with built-in GPS

        According to the DigiTimes (Taiwan) news site, Mitac has launched a new Pocket PC in its Mio family, the Mio 168, claiming it is the first Pocket PC with a built-in GPS receiver. The new PDA features a 3.5-inch TFT LCD display that should allow for easy viewing of maps for driving, and also provides directions to gas stations,...


        restaurants, and parking lots.

        Priced around $350, the Mio 168 features a 300MHz Intel PXA255 processor, 32MB ROM, 64MB DRAM, and an SDIO expansion slot, according to the DigiTimes story. Its embedded operating system is Microsoft's Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC. Mitac also announced a new entry-level Pocket PC, the Mio 336, which offers many of the same features as the Mio 168 except for the GPS module. The Mio 336 is priced at $216.
