        MiTAC to launch new Windows Mobile powered smartphone in Taiwan

        According to various reports, MiTAC International Group will launch its next-generation Mio smartphone in Taipei next Tuesday. The Mio 8390 is reportedly based on a 200MHz Intel "Dalhart" processor running Microsoft's Windows Mobile 2003 software for smartphones and includes a built-in digital camera.

        Dimensions are said to be 99 x 51 x 24mm, and the device has a 2.2-inch screen capable of displaying 260,000 colors images, plus 16MB of built-in memory. Built-in software will include MSN Messenger, instant messaging, and Java MIDP 2.0 based games.

        The 8390 will only be available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China.
