In a recent entry on his blog, Windows Embedded software architect Mike Hall discusses two interesting examples of how Microsoft's robotics technologies are being used. Hall describes a self-balancing robot and a self-driving car, both developed with the aid of Microsoft Robotics Studio.

Developed by students from the University of Massachusetts Ahmerst, Ubot5, the self-balancing robot demonstrated in the video below, runs Windows XP Embedded. According to Hall, the students spent just two days getting the robot "up and running, or at least balancing" using Robotics Studio.

Hall's post also features information about a self-driving car created by students from the Princeton University as part of the DARPA Urban Challenge. For more information, including a video of the car in operation, read Hall's entire post, here.
