"It's worth everyone's time to hack into the Xbox," a software security consultant told the paper's Lauren Barack. "From a hacker's standpoint, some see the Xbox as a possible PC, others as a moneymaker if they're a pirate."
Low-end hobbyists looking to turn their Xboxes into cheap Linux computers are not Microsoft's radar, the story says. Rather, Microsoft is after content pirates, who sell or distribute copies of Microsoft's games, or those who offer computer chips with altered Microsoft code that allow the games to be played.
