The .NET Compact Framework 2.0 Redistributable is now available from Microsoft's download center. The 25 MB file includes everything needed to run applications built for both .NET Compact Framework (CF) v1 and v2, including the Common Language Runtime and the .NET Compact Framework class library, according to Microsoft.

The redistributable is currently available only in English. Other languages are in progress and are expected to be available in "a few weeks," according to Mike Zintel, Group Manager for the .NET CF team.

Visual Studio .NET 2003 or 2005, or the .NET Framework 2.0 SDK are required to create .NET CF-based applications.

.NET CF 2.0 supports devices running Windows Mobile Software for Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile 5.0 for PocketPC and Smartphone, and Windows CE .NET 5.0 and higher, according to Microsoft.

Download the .NET CF 2.0 redistributable here.
