The market for dedicated PNDs is under threat from GPS-equipped smartphones, and from tablet PCs such as Mio's own, recently announced
Moov 380. However, the company apparently reasons that consumers will still buy single-purpose gadgets if the price is right.
The new Moov S401 appears extremely similar to the Moov M400 announced last September. However, that model had targeted Europe, and, later, the U.S, whereas the S401 is apparently intended for customers in Asia.

According to Mio, the S401 includes 128MB of RAM, 2GB of flash storage, and a microSD expansion slot. Its 4.3-inch touchscreen has a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels, and a TMC receiver is optionally available, the company adds. The PND is said to have a built-in, non-removable battery allowing for two hours of cordless operation, plus a USB 2.0 client port.
