Syclo has released a new version of its mobile application development platform, adding support for Windows Mobile 5.0. Agentry 4.0 also adds new options that make it faster and easier for developers to build and deploy mobile applications that meet the "rigorous demands of today's mobile workers," the company says.

According to Syclo, Agentry enables developers to rapidly build, deploy, and maintain mobile applications without writing code. Additionally, the package can create a single application and deploy it on multiple devices utilizing a variety of communications and network connectivity methods.

The Agentry package consists of three main components: the Editor or Workbench for designing applications; the Server for centrally managing security and deployment; and the Client that resides on the mobile device.

According to Sylco, new features in version 4.0 include:
        • Support for Windows Mobile 5.0

        • A visual screen editor that supports drag/drop screen layout

        • An adaptive communications feature that allows administrators to set "no-fail parameters" ensuring that mobile applications are always available as users move between networks

        • Import/Export/Compare that supports the import or export of pre-built application configurations to rapidly deploy new or upgraded applications
The new package also includes an enhanced testing environment with the ability to emulate client platforms on the desktop, debug the application rules, view performance log files and inspect objects.

"Agentry's latest enhancements provide our customers with the tools they need to confidently deploy mobile technology that promises a low total cost of ownership, and protection against obsolescence," said Syclo CEO Richard Padula.
