Wyse Technology has introduced two new laptop-style thin client devices based on Windows XP Embedded. The X90L and X90Le offer a Via C7-M ULV processor clocked at 1.2GHz, a 15.4-inch WXGA display, Gigabit Ethernet, and optional Bluetooth, according to the company.

Last September, Wyse released its first mobile thin clients, the X90 and X90e. This pair of products featured 12.1-inch displays and 1280 x 800 resolution; the X90L and X90Le offer the same resolution but spread it over the larger, 15.4-inch surface area. A 10/100/1000 Ethernet adapter is another notable enhancement, Wyse says.

Once again, the fanless X90L and X90Le use the Via C7-M ULV, paired with 512MB of RAM and 512MB of flash. (Other configurations are available that provide 1GB of flash, and either 1GB or 2GB of RAM.) And again, they have 802.11b/g wireless networking and an ExpressCard 34/54 slot, the latter providing the bandwidth needed for 3G wireless adapters, according to Wyse.

The "e" suffix on the X90Le denotes the inclusion of two extra options: First, a smart card reader designed for authentication and automation of the sign-on process using Citrix Password Manager. Second, Bluetooth 2.0, which Wyse points out could be used to connect the X90Le to home base via a cell phone, if needed.

Both the X90 and X90LE have VGA and DVI-D ports, for connecting projectors or using an external monitor to provide an extended desktop. They also have SD card slots, and four USB ports. Audio capabilities include internal stereo speakers, plus connectors for mic in and line out.

Features and specifications listed by Wyse for the X90L and X90Le include:
        • Processor -- Via C7-M, clocked at 1.2 GHz
