Greenlight Wireless Corp.'s mobile Web browser/portal has been nominated for a Best Software of 2005 Award from Pocket PC Magazine. Dubbed Skweezer, Greenlight's platform-independent freeware optimizes Web pages, searches, and email for use on PDA's and cell phones.

Skweezer can be accessed from Pocket PC, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Palm, XHTML-based cell phone, and WebTV devices. Mobile Internet users access Skweezer by visiting www.skweezer.net, then use the portal as a "wireless gateway" to browse and search the Web. Skweezer compresses and reformats content being downloaded, so that, according to the company, it loads faster, looks better, and is easier to navigate. Skweezer includes an email client, RSS reader, address book, site directory, and other useful features designed specifically for the mobile environment.

Pocket PC Magazine assembled a panel of 83 Pocket PC and smartphone experts to pick this year's award winners, which will be announced in September. The panel includes "prominent Microsoft MVP's, support forum moderators, and Pocket PC Magazine contributors." The panel nominated Skweezer for awards in two separate categories: browsers and web utilities for Pocket PCs; and phone tools and synchronization software for smartphones.
