Contrary to rumors running around the Web, the Motorola Q is not being cancelled, according to a blog post at Gearlog. "The Q is a device family we've committed to," blogger Sascha Segan quotes Motorola's Jason Gordon as saying.

Motorola unveiled the Q last summer, calling it "the thinnest, lightest, coolest QWERTY [mobile phone] on the planet."

The device runs Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 and boasts Bluetooth, IrDA, and mini-USB interfaces, a 1.3 megapixel camera, extensive multimedia support, stereo speakers, and a QWERTY keyboard. It is also expected to feature push email services, making it a strong competitor to RIM's Blackberry devices.

Motorola said earlier this month that the Q would be available in 8 to 12 weeks, Segan notes.
