The MPx230 reportedly included Wi-Fi and VoIP support, and the news site speculates that Motorola may have canceled the order at least partly in response to a Chinese government ban on "unapproved" Wi-Fi devices. However, Motorola may also cancel orders with Taiwanese ODMs for a number of phones that do not support Wi-Fi, the
DigiTimes story says, including the
MPx200,
MPx220, and
MPx.

Slashphone suggests that Motorola may be planning to produce the MPx series smartphones in its own facilities. Meanwhile, a Motorola official in Asia said in January that Motorola
will ship eight to 10 new phone models based on Linux in 2005.
