Motorola to showcase CE .NET 4.2 on i.MX apps processor

Motorola will demonstrate its i.MX applications processor running version 4.2 of Windows CE.NET this week at the Embedded Systems conference in San Francisco today. The i.MX processor targets next-generation mobile wireless devices, including PDAs, smartphones, and "personal digital entertainment" products, the company said.
According to Motorola, the i.MX provides doze and sleep power management modes, as well as "integrated features" such as multimedia extensions and a video port. The company said it supports the i.MX processors with a portfolio of software and reference designs to accelerate the creation of next-generation mobile communication products including such capabilities as digital image capture, file sharing, wireless connectivity, e-commerce using smartcards, and multimedia entertainment.
