Moving toward NAND and NOR convergence
2006-08-30
[Updated Aug. 31] -- Embedded designs often contain both NAND and NOR flash memory, to benefit from the advantages of each technology. A new whitepaper from flash filesystem specialist Datalight discusses the convergence of these two technologies in architectures that combine the benefits of both, and suggests criteria for optimizing new embedded system designs.
The paper begins with a review of NAND and NOR technology, examining the respective advantages and disadvantages of each, and then goes on to look at how the technologies are converging. It concludes with some design recommendations based on criteria for storage performance, capacity, and reliability. Read the full whitepaper, here on WindowsForDevices.com: Flash memory webinar -- Sept. 28 Datalight is inviting interested developers to attend a free "webinar" titled "NAND Controllers and Hybrid Flash Speed Integration," to be held Thursday, Sept. 28 at 10:30 A.M. Pacific Time. Registration begins Sept. 1, and is limited to 100 attendees, according to Datalight. Further details regarding the webinar are available here. Click here to register. Related stories:
