The company calls this Windows Mobile 2003 smartphone the "Great for Music" handset, aka the Orange SPV C550.
Based on an Intel XScale processor running Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, the SPV C550 is a 900/1800/1900 MHz GSM smartphone with IrDA, Bluetooth and GPRS Class 10 connectivity. It provides "the first realistic alternative to carrying around a separate MP3 player, phone and PDA," says Matthew Kirk, Director of Devices at Orange.

It has a 240 x 320-pixel LCD screen, compared to the 220 x 176-pixel screen of its predecessor, the
SPV C500 introduced last summer.
The new smartphone, moreover, incorporates a 1.3-Megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and, as befitting a music-oriented device, it has dedicated play, rewind, and fast-forward keys on the front panel.
The SPV 550 has 64 MB of internal memory and a Mini SD memory expansion card slot, a USB 1.1 port, and IrDA and Bluetooth 1.1 wireless interfaces. It supports AAC and WMA formats; SP-MIDI and SMF poly formats; WAV, MP3 and AMR wave formats; and open mobile alliance (OMA) standard digital rights management (DRM). Other features include support for Packet Video and progressive download, plus a CD containing Microsoft Outlook and ActiveSync.
The device measures 108 x 46 x 17.5 mm and weighs 107 grams. It comes with a stereo headset and rechargeable battery allowing four hours of operating time, six days of standby.
