Mobile Instant Messenger for Windows 5.0 is available as a standalone wireless application for consumers and business professionals, as well as for enterprises via the WebMessenger Mobile Platform, according to the company.

WebMessenger says that Mobile Instant Messenger provides multi-network access within a single client application, allowing users to simultaneously chat with colleagues on different networks. It runs simultaneously with a mobile device's phone and email applications. Additionally, users are able to send and receive extended presence awareness information such as online, busy, away, and not available, as well as recognize the device of origin as being either a desktop or a mobile device.

WebMessenger lists the following key features for Mobile Instant Messenger for Windows 5.0:
        • 3DES encryption -- encrypts communication for added security and regulatory or enterprise compliance

        • IM networks wizard -- launches automatically to help set up proxy accounts for all supported networks

        • Enhanced IM networks screen -- provides a one screen, easy-to-use interface to manage accounts and contacts

        • Buddy list logo icons -- uses IM network logos for buddy icons, making it easier to determine status and initiate chats with buddies from various IM networks

        • 5 Way navigation bar utilization -- users can navigate through buddy lists, read messages, and collapse or expand groups by using the five-way navigation control found on Windows Mobile 5.0 devices, eliminating the need for a stylus
The enterprise version of Mobile Instant Messenger for Windows 5.0 includes the above features and also offers added interoperability with IBM Lotus Sametime, Jabber XCP, Microsoft Exchange IM, Microsoft LCS, and Reuters Messaging, according to WebMessenger.
