Tilcon Software has released a version of its multi-platform GUI development environment for Windows CE 5.0. The Interface Development Suite (IDS) and Embedded Vector Engine (EVE) help developers create robust, highly interactive user interfaces for real-time and embedded applications, according to the company.

Tilcon says its next-generation architecture is built around an intelligent, scalable Embedded Vector Engine (EVE) that manages all aspects of display and user interaction on behalf of client applications. The Interface Development Suite allows designers to lay out screens, or simply import screen layouts through a point-and-click interface, without generating source code.

Tilcon points out that unlike traditional code-based solutions, the Embedded Vector Engine (EVE) and associated screens are not bound into application code. This means that developers, and even users, can change and reconfigure graphic interfaces without recompiling or relinking the underlying application code. Additionally, all screens will run unchanged on all Tilcon-supported operating systems, including Windows CE, Windows XP, Linux, VxWorks, and QNX, the company claims.
