According to Webraska, the new SmartZone Navigation Suite currently includes the following components . . .
- SmartZone Navigation for PDAs -- an "off-board" real-time navigation application for Pocket PC platforms with a customizable graphical user interface.
- SmartZone Navigation Duo -- a hybrid navigation application for Windows platforms providing "on-board" and/or "off-board" navigation (i.e. the application is able to generate real-time navigation instructions from map data stored in the device or on a remote server when necessary).
- SmartZone Navigation for SmartPhones -- an "off-board" real-time navigation application specifically developed for advanced mobile phones. The company says a version is already running on Microsoft Windows powered SmartPhones.
- SmartZone Navigation SDK -- available in C++ and Java OSGi versions, the SDK enables integrating Webraska's navigation technology into custom telematics platforms and applications.
- SmartZone VectorMap SDK -- an Active X control that enables development of custom dispatch or mobile applications through the manipulation of vector data.
The SmartZone products are based on Webraska's patented IbDN (Internet-based Distributed Navigation) technology, which enables dynamic extraction of cartographic corridors from remote servers and high-speed transmission to mobile or embedded devices over cellular networks, the company said. Optimized mapping corridors and high compression techniques are used to enable data download to remote terminals within seconds; and GPS and voice enabled driving directions are initiated as soon as the download starts, so the connection can be dropped once data transfer is completed.
