        Net appliance crams 6 Gbit LAN ports into 1U, runs Windows Embedded

        Win Enterprises has released another member in its family of 1U-high rack-mountable networking and Internet appliance platforms, this one based on a Pentium 4 processor and equipped with a sextuplet of gigabit ethernet ports.


        The PL-01024 is available with either Windows CE or Windows XP Embedded.

        The PL-01024 supports a Socket 478 Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron (D) processor up to 3.06 GHz with HT technology and a 400 / 533 MHz FSB. Two 184-pin DDR DIMM sockets accommodate up to 4 GB of RAM.

        The device sports six gigabit ethernet ports and two 10/100 ports, along with one serial and one USB 1.1 port. Storage and expansion capabilities include PCI-X and Mini-PCI slots, a CompactFlash socket, and a 2.5-inch HDD bay with IDE connector. A programmable LCD panel and 4-key keypad are also provided, along with four each digital input and output lines.
