The INE Compact simulates WAN, LAN, and WLAN connectionsJoining a range of larger simulators in the company's product line, the INE Compact has a footprint less than 12 X 7 inches and reportedly runs silently. "It takes up minimal desk space, and running it isn't going to disturb colleagues, so it is the ideal one-per-desk network simulator," the company says.
Two Ethernet ports allow in-line connection, either directly to a host or via switches and routers. Once the INE Compact has been activated, it can change network parameters such as:
- Link speed, such as T1, E1, Modem, (A)DSL, GRS, 3G, Satellite
- Available bandwidth
- Delay (latency)
- Jitter
- Loss
As a result, says the company, applications can "experience" typical network conditions instead of the near-perfect LAN they're actually connected to. Test clients can be PCs running any operating system, game consoles, VoIP devices, or any other device with an Ethernet port.
