        Intrinsyc Software has appointed Mark W. Johnston to the role of VP and general manager of the company's worldwide sales and technical marketing. One of Johnston's key objectives appears to be boosting design wins of the company's Windows CE-based

        target=new>Soleus mobile phone software platform.

        According to Intrinsyc CEO Glenda Dorchak, Johnston "has a superb track record in the mobility industry, including extensive experience in Asia with a broad range of handheld and cellular applications," and therefore "will play an integral role at Intrinsyc as we focus on our goal to be the leading enabler of next generation handheld products."

        Johnston stated, "In the coming year I plan to expand our engineering services business, establishing Soleus as a de-facto high-level operating system platform, and forge mutual success with our customers and partners," he said in a statement.

        Johnston's prior experience includes 22 years at Intel, with the past 10 being in management positions focused on sales to "industry leaders" in handheld and communications technology products, according to Intrinsyc.
