Skype has released a new beta version of its free VoIP software for Pocket PCs. The company cautions that Skype for Pocket PC version 2.1 is "still a work in progress," but encourages users to download it, try the new features, and submit feedback.

According to Skype, version 2.1 includes several new features such as:
        • "One-click" access from the device home screen
        • Group chat
        • Enhanced contact list that includes "avatars" and "mood messages"
        • Voicemail support
        • Call forwarding support
        • Profile editing
Skype for Pocket PC requires a minimum 400 MHz processor and either a WiFi or 3G wireless connection. The company cautions that on "most" Windows Mobile devices, Skype works best when the contact list has fewer than 100 entries and there are no more than three group chat sessions open simultaneously.
