According to Skype, version 2.1 includes several new features such as:
- "One-click" access from the device home screen
- Group chat
- Enhanced contact list that includes "avatars" and "mood messages"
- Voicemail support
- Call forwarding support

Skype for Pocket PC requires a minimum 400 MHz processor and either a WiFi or 3G wireless connection. The company cautions that on "most" Windows Mobile devices, Skype works best when the contact list has fewer than 100 entries and there are no more than three group chat sessions open simultaneously.
