        New T-Mobile QWERTY smartphone runs Windows Mobile 5.0

        T-Mobile USA will soon be offering a full-featured Windows Mobile 5.0 smartphone made by Taiwanese ODM (original design manufacturer) HTC.


        The T-Mobile Dash, with full QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth, and WiFi, is based on the same platform as HTC's S620 announced last month.

        T-Mobile describes the Dash as having a "thin, soft-touch" design that can be comfortably used with one hand. A built-in speakerphone and Bluetooth stereo headset support hands-free operation.

        HTC lists the following key features and specifications for the S620/Dash:
        • Processor -- OMAP 850 at 201 MHz
        • Memory -- 64 MB DDR RAM, 128 MB flash
        • Display -- 2.4-inch TFT LCD, 320x240, 16-bit color
        • Camera -- 1.3 MPixel
        • I/O port -- HTC ExtUSB, 11-pin mini-USB and audio jack combined
        • Audio:
          • built-in microphone and 3-in-1 speaker
          • headphone -- AMR/AAC/WAV/WMA/ MP3 codec
        • Expansion -- microSD slot
        • Wireless:
          • Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
          • 802.11 b/g WiFi
          • Bluetooth 2.0
        • Dimensions -- 4.39 x 2.46 x 0.5 inches (111.5 x 62.5 x 12.8 mm)
        • Weight -- 130g with battery
        The Dash will be available exclusively from T-Mobile beginning Oct. 25 at T-Mobile retail stores and online, according to the company. T-Mobile did not reveal pricing in its announcement, but Reuters reports that the device will be priced at $199 after rebates, with a two-year contract.
