PC/104 originator Ampro Computers Inc. unveiled a new low-end PC/104-compliant processor module today, based on a 133MHz STMicroelectronics "STPC Elite" x86-compatible system-on-chip processor. The module supports Microsoft's Windows CE embedded operating system.

Ampro said its new "CoreModule 410" SBC includes 16MB onboard SDRAM memory, two RS232 serial ports (one with RS485 capability), parallel port, floppy port, EIDE drive interface, ps/2 keyboard/mouse, GPIO, and a bytewide socket for an optional DiskOnChip 2000 Flash disk. Additionally, the module includes a soldered-on 1MB Flash memory chip with 768KB available to the OEM. Operating temperatures of -40 to +85 deg. C are supported.

The module is priced at under $300 in moderate volumes, Ampro said.
