Sakrament, a Russian speech synthesis and recognition software firm, has adapted its text-to-speech (TTS) engine to handheld devices based on Windows CE. Sakrament Teller 2.0, also known as Sakrament TTS Engine PDA Edition, is said to work with Windows CE 3.0 and later, and is meant for vocalizing electronic documents in either TXT or HTML format.

The TTS engine is available in both English and Russian. The English version comes with one male and one female voice, whereas the Russian version features three male and two female voices. Sakrament says the engine properly handles date and time information, numbers, phone numbers, addresses, abbreviations, and currency.

Sakrament also offers tools and an SDK to help developers integrate the TTS Engine PDA Edition into devices.

Sakrament Teller 2.0 is available for 20 EUR. Contact the company for quantity purchase information.
