Norco and its Habey USA subsidiary announced a 9.25 x 8.66-inch motherboard whose Intel Q67 chipset supports Intel "Sandy Bridge" Core i3/i5/i7 processors. The POS-7933 includes up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, ten serial ports, six USB 2.0 ports, four SATA interfaces, a gigabit Ethernet port, plus both PCI and mini-PCI Express expansion, says the company.

The POS-7933 lives up to its name as a motherboard aimed at Point of Sale (POS) computers, according to Norco. However, Norco subsidiary Habey cites a broader list of applications, including business banking, ATMs, retail kiosks, print imaging, gaming, and factory automation. Norco and Habey each offer a web page devoted to the board, with identical specs.

The POS-7933 supports this year's "Sandy Bridge" family of Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors, and features the Intel Q67 chipset. There appears to be no simultaneous display capability here, as there's only a single VGA port, supporting resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 pixels.

The Habey POS-7933 is further equipped with dual SIMMs, supporting up to 8GB of 1066/1333MHz DDR3 RAM, says the company. Both PCI and Mini-PCI Express slots are available, as are four SATA interfaces -- including dual SATA 3.0 ports featuring RAID 0/1/5/10 support.

As befits a POS system, the POS-7933 is loaded with serial ports to handle numerous peripherals. There are 10 RS-232 ports overall, with two available on the coastline. One of the 10 ports is also said to support RS-422 connections, while another supports RS-485.

A gigabit Ethernet port is provided on the coastline, featuring wake-on LAN, says Habey. Also on the coastline are found the VGA port, as well as a PS/2 port and an LPT parallel port, says the company. Internally, the board offers six USB 2.0 ports and 8-bit GPIO, and it appears that the audio I/O may also be internal.

The 9.25 x 8.66-inch motherboard offers an ATX power supply and supports operating temperatures ranging from -4 to 158 deg. F, says Habey. No operating system support is listed, but Linux and Windows seem likely.

Features and specifications listed for the POS-7933 include:
