O2 is reportedly prepping a successor to its Xda II Pocket PC phone that runs Windows Mobile 5.0. The Xda Atom will launch in early December, and features a 2 Mpixel camera, on-board WiFi, and an FM radio receiver in a package smaller than the Xda II mini, according to CNET Asia.

The Atom is powered by a 416 MHz Intel processor with 128 MB of flash memory and an unspecified amount of DRAM, according to CNET's Reuben Lee. In addition to Windows Media Player 10, the device will include O2 MediaPlus, "which the company claims is the first media center application designed for a PDA-phone," writes Lee. MediaPlus is said to provide a common interface for access to music, video, and photos.

The Atom is expected to retail for about $800 US, according to CNET. Read CNET's coverage of the O2 Xda Atom here.
