        Online courses teach Windows Mobile app development

        Microsoft's E-Leaning group has put together 12 hours of online classes that teach how to develop, deploy, and maintain Windows Mobile 5.0 applications. The 6-course collection will also prepare candidates for the Technology Specialist exam for "Windows Mobile -- Application Development," according to Microsoft.




        Topics covered in the collection, according to Microsoft, include:
        • Developing Windows Mobile 5.0 applications
        • User interface design
        • Accessing data using SQL Everywhere
        • Accessing Microsoft SQL Server data from a mobile device
        • Interoperability and platform functionality
        • Deploying and maintaining mobile applications
        Microsoft recommends the following prerequisites before undertaking the Windows Mobile collection:
        • Visual Studio 2005 -- 1 year
        • .NET Framework or .NET Compact Framework -- 1 to 2 years
        • Visual Basic .NET or C# -- 1 to 2 years
        • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 -- 1 year
        • Enterprise application development -- 1 year
        • Smart Device development using Visual Studio 2005
        E-Learning classes are sold on a subscription basis that allows the student unlimited access to the material for a specific time period, usually a year, according to Microsoft. A one-year subscription to the Windows Mobile collection is currently priced at $192.
